Now offering Triton DTS Decompression

We've upgraded our traction machine!
Traction DTS spinal decompression therapy, is used for both Lumbar and cervical treatments.
The spine is composed of 26 vertebra, stacked one on top of another. Each vertebrae has a cartilaginous  cushion between them called the inter-vertebral disc. As we age, weight and gravity put pressure on the discs, causing them to bulge, thin, or herniate. This results in the nerves that exit from between the vertebra to become impinged. Chiropractic adjustments along with spinal decompression, help to improve the motion of the spine, and remove the pressure from the nerves. This allows the cartilage and nerves to heal properly.

We've upgraded to a newer traction device that is used to apply the pulling. It's smoother, and holds the precise amount of traction programmed. The belts are also improved, no more snaps, and it is more comfortable.

Scoliosis Screenings

I've recently caught a few scoliosis cases, a mother and daughter in fact. The mother has several years of chronic pain that may or may not be related to the scoliotic curves. She was doing well in treatment, and decided she trusted me enough to check her twin 14 year old daughters. I did a simple exam and found a positive belt test and a different of heights of the thoracic ribs as the patient laid prone on the table. I sent for xray films of the daughter, and the mother requested films of herself also. I obliged, since she had had her back pain for so long, and considered a chance of scoliosis or abnormal posture curves anyway. Here are the films, first one is of the mother, and the 2nd and 3rd are the daughter (who had no back pain). the twin showed no abnormalities during exam and no xray was taken. this shows the necessity of going to the chiropractor occasionally, even if you are not in pain.

BEWARE OF TEXT NECK
Recently I have seen a lot of patients that are suffering because of what is called anterior head carriage. Anterior head carriage is when the weight of the head (8-9lbs) is brought forward. This exerts extreme amount of pressure on the spine. The head is then left in this position for an extended period of time, resulting in muscle inflammation and trigger points. Here is a normal side view x-ray (mine).
notice the smooth upward curve.
The next 2 show abnormalities in the curve. All 3 x-rays are of people in their early 30's

The last picture is of a patient with moderate cervical degenerative disk disease resulting from this stress, and is about 50 years old. This will progress, and will never regain normal range of motion, stability, and pain will come and go. All of these people are regular, with common complaints of neck pain, muscle tension, and aches. These postures are very common. (I've taken all of these in the last few weeks).
Proper posture, exercises, and muscle stability allows our spines to hold the massive weight of our head without damaging the internal structure of our spine. Do you have a strong CORE? Half of the patients tested in our office fail the basic neck and back strength tests.
